History of Sister Cities International

SCI was established in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower at his White House conference on citizen diplomacy.   SCI is headquartered in Washington, D.C.   President Eisenhower reasoned that people from different cultures could understand, appreciate, and celebrate their differences while building partnerships that would lessen the chance of new conflicts.
