Little Free Library Project

A Little Free Library standing in a green yard.

Take a Book. Leave a Book.

Little Free Library is a non-profit community with a straight-forward rule: Take a Book. Leave a Book.

Who knew a little wooden box could hold so much magic? Little Free Libraries are neighborhood treasures tucked right outside your door — overflowing with stories waiting to be discovered, adventures ready to begin, and the simple delight of finding exactly the book you didn't know you needed. Grab one, leave one, and watch how a small act of sharing turns neighbors into friends and streets into something truly special.

How You Can Get Involved

As we work with the city/county and start gathering what's needed to build the libraries, we are currently collecting email addresses for those who may be interested in volunteering. A volunteer for Little Free Libraries are called Stewards.

A Steward's role:

Maintenance & Upkeep

  • Inspect the library regularly for physical damage such as loose hinges, cracked wood, or a door that won't close properly.
  • Keep the exterior clean and presentable — wipe down surfaces, touch up paint, and clear away debris or cobwebs.
  • Report significant damage or vandalism to the program coordinator promptly.

Book Curation

  • Keep the library stocked with a variety of books in good, readable condition.
  • Remove books that are damaged, moldy, or water-logged.
  • Aim for a diverse selection that reflects the interests and ages of your neighbors.
  • Rotate inventory periodically to keep the collection feeling fresh.

Program Participation

  • Attend steward meetings or check-ins as scheduled.
  • Participate in community book drives or special events when possible.
  • Notify the program coordinator if you need to temporarily step down or need support.

General Conduct

  • Represent the program with kindness, inclusivity, and enthusiasm.
  • Ensure the library remains a welcoming space for all neighbors regardless of background.
